Non-Physician Medical Anesthesiology

Non-Physician Medical Anesthesiology is a specialized field of medicine dedicated to the comprehensive care of patients before, during, and after surgical, obstetric, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures requiring anesthesia. It focuses on the prevention and management of pain, maintenance of vital organ functions, and ensuring patient safety throughout the perioperative period
The scope of practice of a non-physician anesthesia practitioner includes,
but is not limited to:

Pre-anesthetic
assessment: Conducting patient evaluations, reviewing medical history,
identifying anesthesia risks, and preparing anesthesia plans in collaboration
with the supervising physician where required.

Administration
of anesthesia: Providing general, regional, and local anesthesia, as
well as procedural sedation, according to established protocols and competency
level.
·
Intraoperative
monitoring and management: Monitoring vital signs, airway management,
oxygenation, ventilation, fluid balance, and responding promptly to
complications during procedures.

Post-anesthesia
care: Managing recovery from anesthesia, monitoring for complications,
and ensuring effective pain control in the immediate postoperative period.
·
Pain
management services: Delivering acute pain management, labor
analgesia, and participating in chronic pain management under defined
guidelines.
